After an unsuccessful episode with a violin, Gilad began to play the piano at the age of 9, with Aviva Primak. He joined the "Reut" junior-high school of arts at the music department, and one year later, at the age of 14, began to play the Bassoon at the Kiryat Bialik youth orchestra under the instruction of Eduard Abadjan. Gilad continued his studies in the field of music at the "Vizo" high-school of arts, and at the age of 16 decided to focus on double-reed woodwinds and began to play the oboe, under the instruction of Eitan Yuval and Baruch Avinoam Ben Yosef.

For the past 7 years, Gilad has been playing in the Technion's symphonic orchestra, first as a bassoon player and for the past 3 years, as an oboe player. He was a bassoon teacher at the Afula conservatory.

After completing both his BA and MA in the university of Haifa, Gilad currently works as a psychologist.
